Phillip Treacy- Millner

Born in Irland and studied and the national college of fashion. He has designed for Alexander McQueen at Givenchy and Karl Largerfeld at Chanel.
On the 19th of November 2007 he was awarded an honorary OBE for his work in the British Fashion Industry by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Recently he has designed hats for Lady Gaga for the 2010 Brit Awards and the Grammy Awards.

I like these designs because of the bright colours that not only grab attention but focuses it on a particular center peice of the hat, for example the head peice designed for Sarah Jessica Parker at the 2008 Sex And The City premire.

I also like the head peices for the Givency "White" Haute Couture Collection. I like the structure and shapes of the and the block shades. The on on the left reminds me of a feather, I chose it because feathers were a prominant motif through the nineteen twenties. The one on the right was chosen because it looked like a brooch that would be worn on the dresses.

The Roaring Twenties

The 1920's was the beginning of the Jazz Age and sometimes refered to in europe as the "Golden Twenties".

It was n this era that the first motion picture with a soundtrack was relseased in 1926 "Don Juan"

The first all talking motion picture was relseased in 1928 "Lights of New York"

1929 became the year when the first all talking colour motion picture was released "On With The Show"

It is the begining of the Art Deco and Surrealist movement and Picasso is active and becoming well known.
Scott F. Fitzgerald publishes "The Great Gatsby" and T.S. Elliot publishes "The Waste Land".
Youth culture of "the lost generation" the flapper dress and the "bob" haircut spreads quickly and the discovery of Tutankarmun's tomb begins a second wave of "Egyptomania".
Noted Scientists of the decade are: Albert Einstien, Sigmund Freud, Nikola Tesla and Alexander Fleming.
some performers were Charlie Chaplin, Greta Gabo and Harry Houdini.
